Due to its size and bays, Koh Samui has many beaches with white sand and clear water. We have already visited a few, and these six are our favourites. So whether you want to be with people or enjoy solitude, you're guaranteed to find it.
Chaweng Beach
Chaweng Beach is the most famous and most visited beach on the island. Huge parties are held there in the high season. However, if you are looking for cool drinks and good DJs, you should make a detour to the famous Ark Bar.
Lamai Beach
Lamai Beach is the second most popular place on the island. It attracts many lovers who want to experience Koh Samui without party tourism. Lamai is located south of Chaweng on the east coast of the island. Even though the place is relatively small, it offers a good selection of shops, restaurants, and bars. We had breakfast here at the French Bakery before our scooter tours. And not to forget, Lamai Beach is beautiful, despite its popularity.
Bang Por Beach (lonely)
Let's move on to the beaches where you will find peace. Bang Por Beach is one of the most beautiful and quietest beaches on the island. The beach is long enough for lovely walks, white sand, and clean water. Before Covid-19, there were a few restaurants and massage services, but they were not open when we were there in March 2022.
Coral Cove Beach
Coral Cove Beach is a little bay with an adjacent 4-star hotel. Due to the rocky bottom and coarse-grained sand, this is the only spot on Koh Samui where it is worth snorkelling.
Silver Beach
Our favourite beach on Koh Samui is Silver Beach. Rocks and other surroundings create a beautiful atmosphere, and adjacent bars have pleasant staff and delicious drinks. Just be careful when you go into the water as there are many sharp stones. It's best to take your water shoes with you.
Lipa Noi Beach
Another cosy beach on the island is at Niki Beach Resort. Lipa Noi Beach is vast and offers many shady spots in front of the hotel facilities where it is possible to stay. Some reviews about dirty and oil-smelling water due to the nearby harbour. However, this has to do with the current and is not always the case! Even without going for a swim, it's worth a visit. Grab a fruit shake on the main road just before you arrive and enjoy the silence.
After a beautiful day at the beach, there's nothing better than ending the evening at a Thai night market. We introduce you to the three best.
