Koh Samui has many markets due to its size. We have already visited a few during our two stays on the island and can recommend the following. Unfortunately, due to the lack of tourism, Covid-19 has kept some closed. But our favourites have already reopened in 2022.
Night Market Fishermans Village
One of Koh Samui's most beautiful markets is Fisherman's Village in Bophut. It opens on Fridays and has many stalls selling delicious food and souvenirs. If you're in the area and want to experience Fisherman's Village without dining at one of the expensive restaurants, it's worth a visit. Many visitors end their evening here with one or more delicious cocktails.
Walking Street Lamai
Walking Street in Lamai takes place every Sunday from 5 pm to 11 pm on Haad Lamai Road, which runs through the town. You'll also find something here if you're looking for tasty street food, cheap souvenirs or clothes.
Chaweng Night Market
Directly at Chaweng Lake, we spent one or the other evening trying many bites of the numerous dishes. Natalie's favourite, as always, was Mango Sticky Rice, mine the super juicy BBQ ribs. We honestly don't know when it opens, as it was open every night when we visited.
If you still feel like enjoying a cool drink or two after the market, you can dive into the nightlife at Chaweng Beach. We recommend our two favourite clubs.
